A Penny for Your Thoughts

This week we will focus on learning the purposes of money, the names of the coins and bills, and what a president is and what a president's job consists of. We said goodbye to Miss Hynes on Friday and thanked her for doing such a wonderful job as a student teacher in our class. We will miss having her work with us each day but will still be able to see her at our school.
Please remember to fill out and return the ICan forms that were sent home on the 15th. If you need a new form, please let me know. We appreciate all of the donations received for our Valentine Party and were delighted by all of the lovely gifts. Ms. Marengo and I would like to thank everyone for your generosity and continuous support.

Will You Be My Valentine?

February is such a great time to teach the children about friendship and sharing. Our theme for next week is centered around Valentine's Day and will incorporate friendship, caring for others, and sharing. We have some fun math activities planned to reinforce number identification, counting, sorting, and patterning using various sized colored hearts.
If you have not sent your child's valentines to school, please be sure to send them on Monday. We are asking that parents write their child's name in the "from" section of the valentine so it will be easier for the children to pass them out to their classmates. You can send them in a ziploc baggie in their folder or book bag. If you would like to send in wrapped candy for their valentine exchange celebration, it would be greatly appreciated. We have 22 children in our class. Please remember that we can no longer accept home baked goods. All foods such as cupcakes, cookies, etc. must be store bought due to children's food allergies.
We would like to thank our student teacher, Miss Amber Hynes, for doing such a great job in our classroom. Her last day with our class will be on Thursday, February 16th. We will miss her greatly and wish her all the best!
Please remember that there will be no school on Friday, February 17th.

Dental Health Week

This week we will learn about the importance of taking care of our teeth by eating healthy, brushing, and flossing our teeth. We will learn new "dental health" vocabulary words and will experiment to find out what plaque can do to our teeth if we do not brush and floss.
We had lots of fun last week with our pizza theme and will continue to keep our dramatic play center set up as "Pizza Hut" so that all of the children have an opportunity to visit and work in it.
