Welcome back! We hope that everyone had a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving break. This week we will begin a theme about "Gingerbread". During the week we will read several different versions of The Gingerbread Man and will compare them and discuss the similarities and differences. We will make our own gingerbread man, woman, boy, or girl and decorate them with various art materials. We will also taste a gingerbread man cookie and after taking one bite, we will graph which "part" we ate first.
If you have any gingerbread storybooks at home that you can send in to share, we would greatly appreciate it. I will make sure that it gets returned at the end of the week.
Please remember to send in your I Care form by November 30th. We also hope that everyone will be able to join us at the WinterFest on December 3rd. This will be a fun day of games, food, and our yearly silent basket auction.
Next week I will be sending home parent teacher conference slips indicating when I would like to meet for our first conference. If you know of a specific date and time (between 2:30-3:00) that you can meet, please send me a note and I will try to schedule you during that time. This is a time when we can discuss how your child is progressing socially and academically. Conferences are scheduled in 15 minute increments, so please be on time.
Thank you and have a great week!
Welcome to our class blog! We are excited to share all of our classroom experiences with you and hope that you visit often.

Book Character Day
Our book character parade was a great success. The children were so excited to be dressed up as their favorite book character and we had a great turn out of parents and family friends to cheer us on. It was a great end to a fun week!

Children's Book Week and Turkeys!
It's Children's Book Week and have we got some fun planned for the week! On Monday it's "Silly Sock" day and we want everyone to sport their silliest socks to school. On Tuesday it doesn't matter whether or not you match because it's "Mismatched Day" and we want you to forget about matching anything! The fun will continue into the night with Pre-K Game Night from 6-7 p.m.
Wednesday will be an even easier day on your wardrobe because we are having "Pajama Day" and everyone can wear their pajamas to school. Please remember to send extra clothes for your child if they are getting Life Touch picture retakes. On Thursday they can wear their favorite hat to school and on Friday we will finish off the week with our book character parade. We hope that all of our boys and girls will dress up as their favorite character. Please note that all children participating in the parade must have a book to accompany their costume. We can't wait to see which characters show up on Friday!
Our class has also participated in decorating a pumpkin to represent a children's book character. Our class chose to decorate our pumpkin like the weiner dog in the book Halloweiner. We would like to thank Camden's mom, Mrs. Burns for helping us decorate our pumpkin. It turned out great and the children loved working with her. We are so proud of our finished product! It is on display in the front hallway by the office for all to see. We hope you can come take a look at our hard work! We also decorated our classroom door to represent the book Pumpkin Town. The children worked hard to paint quite a few pumpkins to make it look like the cover. If you get the chance to visit to see our door, please tour the rest of the school to see all of the other doors and hallways. The creativity is flowing at the Pre-K center!
We are still collecting donations for our class WinterFest basket. The theme is "Rub-a-Dub Tub", which is a children's bath basket. We would appreciate any donations of items that would fit this theme. Some suggestions are bubble bath, bath crayons, children's washcloths or towels, children's bath robes, soaps, shampoos, bath toys or bath toy holder, faucet cover, etc. We would also like to thank those who have already donated items, your generosity is greatly appreciated! WinterFest will be held on December 3rd.

Turkey, Turkey
Last week we talked about fall and all of the changes in our environment. We went on a nature walk so the children could see all of the changes brought on by fall. The boys and girls had lots of fun collecting various types of leaves, twigs, acorns, and moss to make A fall collage.
This week many of our activities and books we read will have a turkey and Thanksgiving theme. We will sort Thanksgiving shapes, use a turkey and a farm to work on positional words, and listen to several turkey stories.
We are still collecting items for our class WinterFest basket. Our theme is entitled "Rub-a-Dub Tub", which is a child's bath time basket. We would greatly appreciate any donations for our basket which would fit this theme.
Children's book week is coming soon. We would love for your child to dress up as a book character for the book character parade. Please remember that all costumes must bw accompanied by a book. If you are having difficulty finding a book, please send me a note and I can check our school library for you.
Please be sure to check your child's folder daily as more information will be sent home throughout the week.
Have a great week!
