Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs!

This week we are learning all about dinosaurs! Our bathrooms have turned into a place where dinosaurs roam! The ceilings have leaves and vines hanging from them and the walls are covered in colorful dinosaurs. In class we will be learning about the different types of dinosaurs, such as carnivores (meat-eaters), herbivores (plant-eaters), and omnivores (plant and meat-eaters)and what the word "extinct" means. We will listen to a story that explains that dinosaurs were hatched from eggs and about other types of animals that hatch from eggs. Did I mention that we will be making our own dinosaur egg out of paper mache? Fun, fun, fun! We will also discuss what a paleontologist does and become junior paleontologists as we try to dig for dinosaur bones (chocolate chips from a chocolate chip cookie) using our special tool (a toothpick). Our sensory table has been turned into a dinosaur habitat for play and we will practice our dinosaur moves during music and movement as we sing and move like dinosaurs. What a "DINO-mite" week it will be!
Next week we will begin a two week unit on apples and would like for each child to bring one red, yellow, and green apple to school for our apple taste test.

REMINDER: If your child hasn't brought a family picture for our bulletin board, we would love to have one. We are still missing quite a few and would like for each child's family to be represented. Also, please remember to fill out and return the "I CARE" forms (yellow form) by the end of the month.

We hope you have a great week!

  1. Landon has watched the movie "The Land Before Time" ALL last week and this weekend when he has tv time! I hope he was as enthusiastic in the class about the dinosaurs as he has been at home. He really enjoyed this subject! =)
