Last week was our first official full week of school and we are very proud of the children in our class. It has been a big adjustment for them and they have really done well in learning our class rules and routines. Last Thursday and Friday we unwrapped two of our centers, the block and science center, and allowed the children to visit each. We began with a lesson on the materials of each and how they are to be used. We then had some exploration time and finally a lesson on clean-up. The children were so excited!
This week we will focus on a color a day to help reinforce color identification. We thought it would be fun to choose a specific color each day and to have the teachers and children dress in that color. The days and colors are listed on the class calendar and will also be posted at the end of this blog post for reference. What a colorful bunch we will be!
We have collected most of the paperwork that was sent home during open house and the first few days of school. If you still have papers to be returned, please send them in as soon as possible. We are still missing some of the internet and handbook permission forms. This form is extremely important because it will allow your child to participate in the computer lab activities as well as having their picture posted in our class blog. I take several pictures throughout the week of the children involved in classroom activities and special events. I would love to be able to post pictures of your child so you can enjoy seeing what he/she is learning in school.
In closing, please remember to send your child to school each day with his/her apple tag, book bag, daily folder, and towels for rest time. Below is a list of colors and the day it should be worn.
Monday-Red
Tuesday- Orange
Wednesday- Yellow
Thursday- Green
Friday- Blue
Have a wonderful week!
My child is very excited to go to school everyday. She loves her teachers and enjoys the activities that are planned for the day. I would just like to say thank you for making my child feel happy and secure at her new school.
